The 5 colour palettes of autumn 2026: burgundy & wine, chocolate & espresso brown, terracotta & rust, plum & aubergine, forest green & khaki. All available in OPI gel polish at You Rêve Paris, Louvre. Book your colour online.
Autumn is the season when the nail palette gains depth. After the milky pinks and airy blues of spring, then the solar shades of summer, September brings back saturated colours, warm or wine-like, that hold their own in the short light of a Parisian late afternoon. The autumn beauty press — Vogue, Cosmopolitan, Who What Wear, Allure — converges on the same quartet: deep wine, chocolate, dark violet — and chrome, as a finish rather than a shade.
The shift shows in our own inventory too: of the roughly 200 OPI references we apply in the salon, some sixty are classed as "autumn" — and our entire Burgundy family, nine shades, is part of it. At You Rêve Paris, every one of these colours is applied as OPI gel polish, during a classic or Luxury SPA Manicure. For each palette you will find our You Rêve N° references and a button to book your colour online.
Looking for your ideal shade based on your skin tone? Use our You Rêve colourimetry tool: in 2 minutes it reads your complexion and recommends the colours from our inventory that suit you best — then takes you straight to booking. Its method is set out in our dedicated article.
1. Burgundy & wine — the star palette of the season
This is the signature colour of autumn, and the one that takes the lead again from the first week of September. Cosmopolitan neatly sums it up as the "quiet luxury" answer to summer's tomato red. Burgundy is not a darkened red: it is a family of its own, where wine, black cherry and red-plum sit side by side.
Its strength: it works on every complexion. On fair skin it creates a graphic contrast; on olive and deep skin it reveals a depth that a true red never has. Wear it in gel polish for a clean 3 to 4 week hold — a chipped burgundy is spotted instantly. Want more than a single flat coat? Our burgundy designs take the same base into nail art.

2. Chocolate, espresso & taupe brown — the new neutral
Brown has replaced beige as the neutral of the season, and it is not letting go: Vogue already had it winning the whole of 2026, and the autumn press now runs it in fudge, espresso and mocha. Dark chocolate, mocha, greyed taupe: these shades wear like a nude — effortless, with everything — but with a density a nude never has. It is the easiest palette to carry off at work when you want to leave pink behind without moving to a bold colour.
Technically they are demanding on finish: an opaque brown forgives no irregularity around the cuticle. This is where careful cuticle prep makes all the difference: the base of the nail is cleared and the colour sits flush with the fold (thinking of a Russian manicure? here is what we do instead). For a busy month, see also our back-to-school nails guide, which deals with shape rather than shade.

3. Terracotta, rust & amber — the transition shade
Between summer's orange and winter's brown, terracotta fills a place nothing else does: a warm, earthy, yet muted colour. It is the palette of leaves, brick and leather — the one that sits most naturally with a camel trench or an ecru knit. The press frames it as a colour of passage: the logical next step after a summer spent in warm neutrals, rather than a mid-season shade.
It is also the most flattering on golden undertones and olive complexions, which it warms without turning them yellow. On short nails, a properly opaque terracotta looks thoroughly current; on long nails it is better worn in a cream finish than a pearly one.

4. Plum, aubergine & berry — the deep palette
This is the violet side of burgundy. Where wine is dense, plum and aubergine lengthen — an effect that is especially clear on fair hands with a pink undertone. Violet turns dark this season: the nail artists quoted in the English-language press present it as the elegant alternative to classic black, softer and less severe.
The family covers a wide register: from a powdery mauve that is almost a nude to an aubergine that is almost black, by way of pearly berries. It is also the palette that lends itself best to understated nail art: a plum base, a gold outline or a few dots on one or two nails are enough to make a manicure feel seasonal without overloading it.

5. Forest green, khaki & sage — the family no one expects
This is the quietest family of the season, and the one that surprises most in the studio. Autumn green has nothing of spring's mint about it: it is darkened, greyed, almost mineral — forest green, military khaki, dusty sage. Our inventory holds five of them classed as autumn shades, against nine burgundies.
This is the green that reads best on short, square nails, in a cream finish rather than a gloss: it then behaves like a coloured neutral, entirely wearable at the office. On long nails, a pearly forest green shifts into evening register. On an extension or overlay, go for the sage: dark green lengthens a great deal and hardens the look very quickly.

And metallics? This season they are worn as a finish rather than as a shade: a chrome powder laid over a burgundy, a chocolate or a plum, for a multidimensional effect without changing colour. In warm versions we have Chico Champaign Toast (N°178, golden champagne), Nougat By Nature (N°187, caramel gold) and Band Tease (N°106, dark bronze). It is all set out in our article on chrome nails.

Five families dominate autumn 2026 at You Rêve Paris (7 rue d'Argenteuil, 75001): burgundy and wine, the star palette of the season; chocolate, espresso and taupe brown, now the reference neutral; terracotta and rust, the transition shades of September; plum and aubergine, the cool and deep alternative; and forest green, khaki and sage, the quiet family of the season. Of the roughly 200 OPI references in our inventory, some sixty are classed as autumn shades — including our entire Burgundy family. All of them are applied as gel polish: classic manicure + gel polish €45 (45 min), Luxury SPA Manicure + gel polish €65 (60 min).
The two shades look alike in the bottle and behave very differently on the hand. Burgundy is a wine red on a blue, cool base: it flatters pink undertones and gains depth on medium to deep complexions; golden undertones are better served by a warm red such as Festive Red or Romantic Red. Plum leans towards violet: it lifts fair skin and gains character on short nails. If you are torn between the two, our You Rêve colourimetry tool reads your complexion and your undertone, then recommends the shades that suit you best among the nearly 200 references available in the salon: two minutes on ureve.paris/eng/nail-colours, then straight through to booking. One last useful reflex: look at the shade in daylight and under artificial light, because a Parisian autumn day moves from one to the other within a few hours.
OPI gel polish, cured under an LED lamp, holds 3 to 4 weeks without chipping. Prices: classic manicure + gel polish €45 (45 min), Luxury SPA Manicure + gel polish €65 (60 min, with soak, scrub, mask and hand massage). Hand gel polish removal €10 (15 min), reduced to €5 when booked together with a gel polish manicure. Monday to Friday, our flexible pricing applies automatically to slots starting between 10am and 12pm and between 2pm and 5.30pm: €40 for the classic manicure + gel polish, €55 for the SPA Luxe + gel polish. One nuance specific to autumn colours: regrowth shows more on a burgundy or an aubergine than on a nude, so allow three weeks rather than four between appointments on very dense shades.
