2026 Nail Colour Trends: The Month-by-Month Guide

How to read this guide

Each month, the team selects a small palette of OPI shades from the nearly 200 references available in the salon — the ones that make sense at that point in the year, in the light of the moment, with the season's wardrobe. This guide gathers them on a single page, month by month, from January to December. All twelve months are detailed shade by shade, and each selection is refined as the year goes on. Bookmark it: this is the living trends pillar, not a frozen article.

The principle is constant: winter pushes toward density (pigment has to hold against the artificial light of Parisian offices and bistros), spring toward luminous pastels, summer toward solar saturations that resist sun, salt and chlorine. Nothing here is left to chance.

January — dense winter

January imposes its codes: a dense palette, finishes that catch artificial light, shades that pair with a wool coat. Six shades frame the month.

• Deep burgundy — Got the Blues for Red: winter Parisian chic, near-black indoors, burgundy red in daylight. The safe pick under a navy or black coat.
• Midnight blue — Less is Norse: the chic, unexpected option beyond the burgundy/nude binary, perfect with an ecru coat.
• Forest green — Rated Pea-G: a deep, opaque cream green, ideal for creative roles and sharp against a grey coat.
• Café au lait — Flannel Aerobics: a rosy-brown nude, just deep enough to step out of beige without entering full colour.
• Rosy nude — Tickle My France-y: the untouchable Parisian classic, for formal meetings and everyday alike.
• Pearl grey — Welcome to Your Whirl: pearly, near-mineral, especially chic on short nails.

February — Valentine's & Candlemas

A pivot month: heading toward the 14th, through Candlemas and Mardi Gras. Colour turns more expressive without leaving winter density behind.

• Big Apple Red: OPI's most iconic cherry red, the safe Valentine's pick, at ease on every skin tone.
• Bubble Bath: a chameleon powder pink, more rosy or more cream depending on the skin — the professional everyday.
• Lincoln Park After Dark: a deep plum, our favourite alternative to burgundy, gorgeous for evenings out or in a matte finish.
• Got the Blues for Red: velvet burgundy, the dressed-up option for the 14th.
• Funny Bunny: a creamy off-white, the typical Candlemas look — alone or as the base of a very soft french.
• Tickle My France-y: the office beige nude, an absolute go-anywhere.

March — the first pastels

The sky clears, the wardrobe lightens, we step out of winter burgundy. March announces spring without a hard break from late-February neutrals.

• Peony pink — Makeout-Side: bolder than powder pink, it lights up fair skin at the office.
• Pistachio green — Summer Monday-Friday: the most distinctive shade of spring 2026, glossy "candy" or matte "design".
• Pastel lilac — Polly Want a Lacquer?: a pale, powdery violet, one of those universal colours that flatter almost every skin tone.
• Sky blue — It's a Boy: optimistic and spring-like, superb as a reverse french over a nude base.
• Mimosa yellow — Stay Out All Bright: a bright, creamy yellow, as an accent on a single nail to dare without risk.
• Pearly beige — Mirror Mirror on the Awe: a subtle rosy sheen, the perfect base for a modern french.

April — full spring, heading for the May bank holiday

Full spring settles in and the pre-May window opens: a semi-permanent applied mid-April holds perfectly through the 1 May long weekend. Six characters for six occasions.

• Peony pink: deep feminine radiance, no harshness, for fair to golden skin.
• Pistachio green: chic daring on short nails, gorgeous on olive and deeper skin.
• Lilac: the season's safe bet, a powdery pastel that's elegant and neutral in its boldness.
• Sky blue: pre-departure freshness, one to keep in reserve for those heading south.
• Soft coral: the outpost of summer, rosier than an orange — our signature for terrace lunches.
• Milk white: sophisticated minimalism, slightly creamy, visually lengthening short nails.

April is also the month of peach fuzz, the soft, luminous peach that replaces over-saturated corals: at OPI, Queens Rule is the closest match, with a pearly veil, You've Got That Glas-glow a rosier cream version for fair skin. Ideal on a short almond shape.

May — the pastel-to-solar transition

May is the hinge: still on pastels and luminous nudes, but starting to warm the palette before high summer. It's the month where almost everything works — a fine window for early weddings and the first terraces.

• Lilac — Polly Want a Lacquer?: still leading, carrying across the whole of spring.
• Peach fuzz — Queens Rule: the pearly, healthy-glow peach, perfect in mid-season.
• Soft coral: the first real warmth, still gentle.
• Milk white — Funny Bunny: the creamy office-chic that also works for ceremonies.
• Peony pink: to own spring in full bloom.

June — the ceremony pivot month

Neither tender spring nor full solar summer: June swings between the two. It's the season of weddings, Whitsun and the first weekends by the sea. Five shades go everywhere.

• Solar coral — Blushin' Pride: a vivid red-coral, warming pale and tanned skin alike, the signature shade of terrace season.
• Cream white — Funny Bunny: creamy milk white, glamorous on tanned skin, perfect for a formal wedding and summer pedicure.
• Pearly pink — Aphrodite's Pink Nightie: universal across skin tones, romantic without being sweet, the safe bet of ceremony season.
• Army green — Cargo All Out: a greyed dark green with a hint of khaki, a deep shade softer than black.
• Vibrant turquoise — I'm Yacht Leaving: a Mediterranean pop, perfect on short nails and for a holiday pedicure.

June also opens navy season — no longer a winter colour: Midnight Mantra (the classic), Less Is Norse (slate blue), Duomo Days, Isola Night (denim blue). Navy flatters a tan and stays stable for three to four weeks under a sun that turns reds pink.

July — full sun and holidays

The most solar month of the year: seaside holidays, civil weddings, summer events. Six shades cover every occasion.

• Sunset coral — Cajun Shrimp: warm orange-coral, the seaside-holiday shade, it doesn't fade in the sun and holds against salt.
• Milk white — Funny Bunny: milky cream white, the wedding and tennis-whites shade; best worn as a french on very sunny holidays.
• Lagoon blue — I'm Yacht Leaving: vibrant Mediterranean turquoise, ideal for a summer pedicure and a hands-feet combo with a coral.
• Powder pink — Bubble Bath: the absolute go-anywhere, from everyday to travel, a discreet guest shade.
• Jersey yellow — Daffodil Duck Walk: pure solar yellow, best on one or two accent nails or in a graphic french.
• Lime green — Summer Monday-Friday: tart apple green, striking as an accent or in a two-tone french with coral.

For an event, add a gold or bronze accent, or a discreet neon on a single nail — the simplest way to dare without going overboard. Signature summer combos: coral hands + lagoon-blue feet for holidays, milk-white hands + coral feet for a wedding.

August — high summer, then back to work

August extends July without copying it: Paris empties, the light hardens, and hands spend their days in the sun, in salt water or chlorine. So we stay on the shades that take the punishment — coralCajun Shrimp (N°170 You Rêve), which doesn't fade in the sun; milk whiteFunny Bunny (N°2 You Rêve), best worn as a french on very sunny holidays; and sky blueGelato on My Mind (N°91 You Rêve), a cream that freshens a tanned hand without the "poolside" feel of turquoise. The combo of the month comes in two parts: coral on the hands, sky blue on the feet — or the other way round for those who live in sandals. The salon stays open 7 days a week all summer, 15 August included.

Then, in the last week of the month, the switch: everyone comes back, work resumes, the wardrobe closes up a little. It's the moment to move to the back-to-work shades without waiting for September — deep nude Taupe-less Beach (N°121 You Rêve), dusty rose Bare My Soul (N°4 You Rêve) — or, for the impatient, to book burgundy Malaga Wine (N°28 You Rêve) on the toes already. Gel polish applied in late August lasts until mid-September (3 to 4 weeks): enough to cover the return before switching to the autumn palette. If summer has left your nails fragile, we remove cleanly and treat before recolouring — which is exactly what the next section is about.

September — a structured return to work

Corals are over: September brings back deep nudes and the first dense shades. The priority shifts too — after summer (salt, sun, sand), we repair before we recolour: clean removal, trim, strengthening treatment, then colour.

• Deep nude — Taupe-less Beach: the greyed taupe that flatters every skin tone, the perfect "well-kept hands" shade for the office.
• Dusty rose — Bare My Soul: a discreet rosy nude, THE go-anywhere back-to-work manicure.
• Nascent burgundy — Malaga Wine: the deep wine red we dare from mid-September, already superb on the toes.

October — full autumn

Coats come out, colours deepen. October is the month of deep shades, matte or satin — and it's on these bases that dark chrome and the velvet effect look their best.

• Espresso chocolate — Espresso Your Inner Self (You Rêve N°37): a deep, warm chocolate brown, THE versatile autumn colour.
• Near-black plum — Lincoln Park After Dark: OPI's timeless icon, so dense it reads black in evening light.
• Olive green — Suzi - The First Lady of Nails (You Rêve N°41): an elegant dark khaki, original without being loud, magnificent in a matte finish.
• Taupe — Taupe-less Beach (You Rêve N°121): a creamy grey-mauve, "cashmere jumper" effect, superb on short nails.

Signature October combos: chocolate hands + burgundy feet, or plum with a gold accent on a single nail for evenings. On the feet, these dense shades have another advantage: they stay impeccable longer between two pedicures.

November — winter velvet

The days shorten, the light is almost always artificial and the coat never leaves your shoulders: November pushes October's palette one notch further, toward deeper shades and softer, more muted finishes. Five references frame the month.

• Cashmere brown — You Don't Know Jacques! (N°15 You Rêve): the greyed taupe-brown with a mauve cast, opaque, that replaces the office nude as soon as the cold sets in. Impeccable on short nails, with a camel or navy coat.
• Flannel beige — Flannel Aerobics (N°14 You Rêve): a softer rosy-brown nude, for those who want to stay in the lights without looking out of place in November's light.
• Black coffee — Brown to Earth (N°82 You Rêve): a near-black brown, the alternative to plain black — the same density, more warmth. Superb in a matte finish.
• Deep burgundy — Como Se Llama? (N°81 You Rêve): a very dark wine red, the one that bridges autumn and the festive season.
• Midnight blue — Midnight Mantra (N°101 You Rêve): a heavily inked navy that reads black indoors and turns blue in daylight — the chic option for those who wear neither red nor brown.

On shape, November is the month of the short nail or the short almond: these shades are so dense that excess length weighs the hand down. On finish, glossy remains the safe bet, but a matte top coat gives browns and burgundy the velvet look the month is named after. December — the festive season

December comes down to two evenings: Christmas, Friday the 25th, and New Year's Eve, Thursday the 31st. The first calls for red and gold, the second for frost and mirror — and a single, well-timed application can cover both. Five festive references.

• Christmas red — Festive Red (N°49 You Rêve): a true red, warm and luminous, cream and opaque — the Christmas red par excellence, at ease on every skin tone.
• Frosted veil — Halo There! (N°120 You Rêve): a sheer greyed-silver glitter veil, worn alone for a "snowfall" effect or over a nude to dress up an office manicure for the holidays.
• Mirror silver — Chrome Silver (N°62 You Rêve): the cool, bright silver of New Year's Eve, on all ten nails or as an accent on one.
• Gold — Gold Dust (N°55 You Rêve): a warm gold dense with fine glitter, which pairs with Christmas red as well as with November's midnight blue.
• Fir green — Yuletide Sweetings! (N°105 You Rêve): a deep green leaning teal, with a blue shimmer, the alternative to red for those who want the festive season without the cliché.

December's nail art options: the chrome effect (+€10, 15 min) for a silver or gold mirror over your gel polish, the baby boomer (+€20, 20 min) for a nude-to-white gradient dressier than a french, or level 2 nail art (+€20) — an accent motif on one or two nails. When to apply? Gel polish lasts 3 to 4 weeks: applied between 10 and 23 December, it covers Christmas and New Year's Eve and holds until 1 January. Slots from 14 to 24 December go fast; online booking is open around the clock, and the salon is open 7 days a week in December — for 24, 25 and 31 December and 1 January, the available slots are the ones shown in the online diary. Format & wear

Every shade in the guide is applied in OPI semi-permanent, LED photopolymerisation, cuticle-oil finish. Three formats:

Wear is 3 to 4 weeks on hands and feet; on toes it is the regrowth at the base that eventually shows, rather than wear. To make it last: cuticle oil every night, gloves for washing up, professional removal only. Simple nail art — two-tone french, chrome, blended ombré — is +€10 and lets you combine two shades of the month.
